As part of our continuing effort to raise awareness about the outstanding career opportunities available in manufacturing, Precipart, a preferred supplier of high-precision custom gears and mechanical components, will host this year’s National Manufacturing Day—for the sixth time—on October 4, 2019, at our facility at 120 Finn Court in Farmingdale, New York.

Every first Friday in October, thousands of manufacturing companies and educational institutions across the country open their doors to inspire the next generation of industry leaders. This full-day event aims to introduce students, teachers, parents, job-seekers, and community members and leaders to today’s manufacturing environment through a first-hand experience inside one of Long Island’s fastest-growing and most innovative companies in the space.

Engineering the Next Generation of Leaders

Precipart has hosted its annual Manufacturing Day event since 2014. In 2017, we accommodated 85 guests including students from Eastern Suffolk BOCES, and the P-Tech programs at Wyandanch High School and Massapequa High School, and in 2018, we welcomed groups of students from Glen Cove High School and Farmingdale State College.

Each session opened with an introduction to the company and its capabilities—presented by Precipart CEO John Walter—and finished with a tour of Precipart’s five-building campus and modern manufacturing capabilities. The event gathered major interest among regional news media in the past. We expect the same type of coverage in 2019.

The Mission Behind Manufacturing Day

Manufacturing Day aims to challenge conventional wisdom and positively change public perception by showing, in a coordinated effort, what manufacturing is—and what it isn’t. This growing national celebration gives manufacturers the power to reverse the skilled labor shortage, connect with future generations, take charge of their public image, and ensure the ongoing success of the industry.

At its heart, Manufacturing Day is an opportunity for individual manufacturers to rally together and unite in a collective effort to overcome shared concerns and challenges, empowering a growing mass movement to help future generations of manufacturing leaders thrive.

A Glimpse Inside Precipart’s Products and Capabilities

From prototype through high-volume production, Precipart designs and manufactures the full range of gears, motion control products, and custom mechanical components for the medical, aerospace, and industrial markets.

We maintain our competitive edge by staying ahead of technology trends and by rigorously training our staff. Every member of the Precipart team supports our mission to not just attract and retain long-term employees but also to guide and train them to be successful.

A Word About Our Employees and Partners

Manufacturing is a thriving business and a major driving factor in the U.S. economy. Today, more than 12 million Americans work in manufacturing, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Over the next decade, New York Newsday expects the science and engineering industries to demand 2.4 million new U.S.-based manufacturing workers.

“There is a greater need for programmers as we retire manual machines and replace them with Computer Numeric Control machines and automated robotics,” explains Joseph Bryant, Director of Manufacturing at Precipart.

Precipart values employees with degrees in application software and computer science as well as mechanical, industrial, biomedical, biomechanical and manufacturing engineering. The rapidly growing company even welcomes support staff and interns outside of manufacturing including graduates with STEM degrees or credentials in information technology, accounting, digital marketing, and film.

Precipart’s long-standing event complements our many active partnerships with local educational institutions on Long Island, formed to identify and train future manufacturing workers. Our partners include the BOCES Eastern Long Island Academy of Applied Technology, STEM high school in Patchogue, and Suffolk County Community College.

*Facility tours start promptly at 9:30am, 11:30am and 1:30pm.
