Cyber security attacks continue to dominate the headlines as nefarious parties obtain and weaponize sensitive personal and technical data. Companies working on government contracts are high on the list of attractive targets for such malicious efforts, so in order to combat these threats, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has provided NIST Special Publication 800-171. This details the cyber security requirements for protecting the confidentiality of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) for companies operating within the United States. With a deadline of December 31, 2017, NIST compliance dictates a supplier’s ability to secure and execute U.S. Department of Defense contracts.

Precipart is pleased to announce that we have met our commitment to our customers, achieving NIST SP 800-171 compliance in December 2017.

With a total commitment to quality, compliance, and customer satisfaction, Precipart’s U.S. business units are pleased to add NIST to a long list of aerospace and defense-related standards including ISO 9001, AS 9100 Rev C and ITAR. “Achieving NIST compliance underscores Precipart’s commitment to our aerospace and defense customers, giving the large OEMs confidence in Precipart as we re-up our Long Term Agreements” said John P. Walter, President and CEO of Precipart, Gears & Motion Control.  “While the standard only applies to U.S. operations, employees across all Precipart sites, in the U.S., Switzerland, the U.K. and India, are adopting cyber security best practices. As a result, Precipart is a more vigilant, secure and resilient organization to the benefit of all our global customers, be they medical, industrial, or aerospace and defense.”
