Here are 3 Things You Need to Know about Elmia Subcontractor 2017

The Show’s Narrow Focus has Helped it Grow

When Elmia Subcontractor began in 1975, it occupied a single hall and attracted only 1,000 visitors. As the years passed, however, it became clear that demand was strong for a dedicated subcontractor fair, and now, four decades later, the fair draws 1,200 exhibitors from 30 countries and roughly 15,000 visitors each year, filling all 33,000 m2 of Elmia’s exhibition halls.

One of the things that sets Elmia Subcontractor apart from other trade shows is that only subcontractors in the manufacturing industry may exhibit. Companies with numerous business segments may only exhibit and market products which are included in the show’s product register. The main categories in the product register are: A01 Manufacturing Methods, A02 Products and components, A03 Material, rawmaterial and semi-finished products, A04 Design and Development, A05 Tools & Fixtures, A06 Organisations & Services. These guidelines are strictly enforced, and the focused nature of the show has led to its increased popularity and status as northern Europe’s leading trade show for manufacturing industry subcontractors.

The Swedish Market Holds Tremendous Opportunity for Manufacturers

Sweden is a highly developed industrial nation focused on modern high-tech manufacturing, and one of the world’s most innovative countries, thanks to good collaboration between academic research and industry. Swedish innovations, such as the ball bearing, the zipper, dynamite, the adjustable wrench, the pacemaker, and Bluetooth have had massive global impact, and Sweden is one of only a few European countries to possess the entire value chain in automotive manufacturing, from suppliers of small components, to OEM companies and vehicle manufacturers. Companies, such as Volvo, ABB, Ericsson, Atlas Copco, Scania and SKF are just some of the big Swedish companies that are consistently on the lookout for new subcontractors.

In 2012, 84 percent of Sweden’s total imports came from the rest of Europe (SEK 926 billion). Engineering products represented just under half of that amount (SEK 444 billion). The various automotive industry segments have a great need for suppliers, and there is always opportunity for growth.
